Creating Peaceable Schools
The intention of the Peaceable School Program is to develop a peaceful culture within a school building or district. It is comprehensive in nature, while also being individualized to the needs of the particular district and schools within which it operates.
The program was developed and implemented with proven results within an inner-city school district. More than a series of skills or a mediation program, the Peaceable School Program is a paradigm shift that makes peace the norm. Building positive human relationships is the core of the program. It is a holistic philosophy based on trust, respect, cooperation and community building.
Program components include:
- Team Building
- Understanding Conflict
- Peer Mediation
- Classroom Management
- Leadership Development
- Comprehensive Counseling
- Anger Management
- Communication
- Discipline vs. Punishment
- Needs Assessments
- Catching Kids (and Adults) Being Good
Although our staff can provide individual components as workshops, the key to successful implementation is a commitment to a team approach carried out over several years. This approach develops a Peaceable School environment which has exponential impact and success.

Peacemaking
Peacebuilding focuses on creating a culture of peace -- the payoff is an environment where conflict is more easily managed when it does arise.
To be an effective peacemaker, one must have inner peace. Learn what brings you peace and make it a priority in your life.
Bringing peace to others is often very simple. For example:
- Listening is a precious gift which only costs you time.
- Empathy is an opportunity to show your care and concern without pity or the need to "do" anything.
- Saying "hello" and smiling at a co-worker or someone you serve can tangibly change the work environment.
